The Buzz: Wallet application for Pocket PC that securely stores and protects personal, business, and financial information; DeveloperOne's response to Ilium's eWallet
Developer: DeveloperOne

Editors Rating: 3.5 / 5

CodeWallet, as the name suggests, is the electronic equivalent of a wallet developed for use on PDA's running the Windows CE operating system and is suitable for storing a variety of information, including banking and credit card numbers, insurance and traveling details, passwords, calling cards, and the like. The most notable features include the secure, password-protected 128-bit encryption scheme, the ability to create custom forms, and over 40 pre-made templates. Setting up with the installer was problem-free and quickly got CodeWallet running on both my Pocket PC and my desktop PC.

Users are greeted with a sample wallet containing cards that have already been filled in to give the user a better idea of the concept of electronic cards. Under the category Intro to CodeWallet are eleven short notes that cover the basics to working with the application; reading these would be helpful, even with CodeWallet's intuitive interface.

Wallets are displayed in the default hierarchical tree style to display the categories and the cards that reside in each one. By opting to display one category at a time, the cards are now represented by icons. Password-secured categories are highlighted in red and can be unlocked by tapping the lock icon on the taskbar and then entering the password. The Tools option in this view allows one to export wallets, change passwords, search a wallet, and exit the program. The Options selection within Tools leads to settings for security, display, and for custom forms.
