In the last column, I went over my preferential arrangement of buttons and functions, both in the OS itself, and in Windows Media Player. Today, I'd like to concentrate on several more items having to do with Start/ Settings, and then move right along to the Start Menu.

Having mentioned that I set my Q-Menu button to activate the Start Menu, what I've done shows little usefulness if launching applications without the use of a stylus is unbearably slow. To fix this, go to Start/ Settings/ Personal/ Buttons/ UpDown Control. For optimal speed, I've placed the 'Delay before first repeat' slider to one notch past 'Short', and my repeat rate all the way over to 'Fast'. With this done, launching applications with one hand is a breeze, and a rather quick one, mind you.

Winding up our journey through space, time, and the Settings controls of our Pocket PC's is the Avantgo Connect selection, go to Start/ Settings/ Connections/ Avantgo Connect. Having been frustrated at Avantgo's 20 Channel/ 2 MB limit (whichever comes first), I had been itching to find a way of bypassing such a restriction. I've read that there's a limit set to how many times one can synchronize their channels per day as well, but this hasn't been a problem as I synchronize daily and not every hour.
Under Server Settings, one can see 'Avantgo.com (sync.avantgo.com: 80)'; 80 may or may not be the number of your synchronization port. Under Properties, one can see that it's Account-specific, and the Add button was practically begging me to set up another Avantgo account, a second one that would allow me another 20 channels or 2 MB of reading material. So I did.

And now I'm as happy as can be.

I wouldn't recommend setting up any more than two accounts at a time, for the simple reason of keeping synchronization times as short as possible. For a detailed step-by-step on how to set up and activate a second Avantgo account to synchronize with your present account on your Pocket PC, head over to PDATweaks.
