Exhibitors & Sponsors

The exhibitor hall was well attended by the usual OEM suspects as well as some interesting ISV offerings.

Special Deals and Discounts

Conference attendees also had the opportunity to buy a HP Jornada 568 for a 30% discount from Direct-IT - one of HP's business partners. I managed to purchase one on the first day with the conference apps preloaded, well worth the money. In fact it is fast becoming my favorite device (iPAQ beware). Also on sale were a number of accessories including Socket WLAN and Bluetooth cards. I gave into the temptation and that's one of the reasons my iPAQ 3875 is living on borrowed time since with the Bluetooth card in my HP 568 and my T39 phone - I don't have to live with the bug of the 3875's backlight not switching on without a soft reset. I didn't realize how much of a PITA it was until I wasn't having to reset my Pocket PC a few times an hour.

The London Pocket PC User Group Meeting

I had the opportunity to attend the London Pocket PC User Group Meeting on the evening before the first official day of the conference. Beth Goza was her usual enthuisiastic self, and MC'ed the event with aplomb. We had a demo of the Windows powered Smartphone and as usual there were many prizes to be won. I also met Mike Wagstaff of PocketGamer and Omar Saeed from JustPPC as well quite a few DEVBUZZ readers - great event.
