It was my intention to make part 2 of
this article series a list of instructions explaining how
to install it on your development machine and deploy software
that uses IDSSAPI to devices of various processors by modifying
.INF and .CAB files. At least, that was the plan until I
received an email from IDSS and found the following message
on their web site: "In an effort to make redistribution
of IDSSAPI easier for you, we've made modifications to the
development install of the IDSSAPI libraries. Attached you
will find a setup executable file that will install the
DLLs to your hard drive, register the application with the
CE Application Install Wizard as well as make registry entries
to add full IDSSAPI support to the eVB App Packaging Wizard."
Previously, the only thing stopping me from encouraging
everyone to rush out and order IDSSAPI was the difficulty
involved in setup and deployment. This hassle has now been
overcome by radical improvements to the IDSSAPI installation
program, making IDSSAPI a time-saving tool that is well
worth the small investment.
Installing IDSSAPI on your development
machine is as simple as running the setup program provided
by IDSS and clicking "Next" a few times.

The setup program will install IDSSAPI
on your PocketPC and register it with eVB. Now, you can
simply check the box next to IDSSAPI in eVB's "References"
window.

Packaging and deploying software that
uses IDSSAPI is also extremely simple now. Just use the
Application Install Wizard (found under eVB's "Tools
- Remote Tools" menu) as you normally would and be
sure to check the box next to IDSSAPI when you get to step
6 of the wizard.
